How long before the bloating and swelling goes down after a total hysterectomy?

It has been a few years since my hysterectomy but I believe it took about a week before I was pretty normal again. The most important thing to remember is to walk. The gas that was put into your belly if you had a stomach incision will become more and more uncomfortable and you will have painful bowel gas that must be expelled. I painted my kitchen 5 days after my hysterectomy. I was a very happy women and felt better the day after surgery than the day I went into surgery. Does this help you?
I did take 2 weeks off work and did not lift anything heavy for 3 weeks.
