How do I find a licensed orthodontist in my area?
I would like to get Invisalign. I am willing to spend a little more, get a good orthodontist. How can I as a good one?

You can go to this website: http://www.americanboardortho.com and search for board certified orthodontists in your area. Board certified orthodontists have to maintain the highest standards of orthodontic treatment and had to go through a very rigorous examination to become board certified. Of course, recommendations from your dentist or friends who have had orthodontic treatment are also great ways to get pointed in the right direction.

First,any DDS that advertises him or herself as being an “Orthodontist”…must hold a specialty Certificate to do so. As for attempting to find out who is and is not ,as you say, “A Good One”…that could be a challenge. Most states have a web site that list complains filed against health professionals, if the one your interested in isn’t listed, then at least no one has filed an official complaint. The local BBB “Better Business Bureau” is a source to check for complaints…then of course you could call the State Dental Board, who may or may not wish to answer your question one way or the other…..You have to remember that while “STATE” Boards are supposed to be the watch dog that protects the public from bad health practicing “guy’s” or “gal’s”…which ever the case may be…the stark reality is that “State Health” boards are notorious for protecting the health practitioner from the public….unfortunate but true.
