Angelina – The answer is NO! The HPV causes one type of cancer of the uterus (squamous cell carcinoma) and in the “neck” of the uterus called the cervix. There is also an adenocarcinoma of certain glands in the wall of the cervix and another adenocarcinoma of the lining of the uterus, the endometrium = endometrial adenocarcinoma. The smooth muscle wall of the uterus rarely produces a cancer known as leiomyosarcoma. Only the first cancer mentioned above is known to be caused by a virus. Others are often hormone-related.
