How Does John Kerry, Or Ted Kennedy Keep Getting Elected?
I understand their states are Pro-Democratic, But there has to be better Democratic Nominees. I realize that they both have big money supporting them, but you would hope that the public would figure out that they don’t represent them very well.

well, 49 million people across the country also voted for Kerry for president, so it’s not THAT hard to believe…He’s actually not a bad representative on most issues…Kennedy brings a name, seniority, and always comes through with some pork, which is why most incumbents get re elected, it’s definitely how Byrd, Thurmound, Lott stay around…Now i do wonder how morons like Corker or Chambliss get elected in the first place though.
Of course, the state that had 14 years of Republican governors must be entirely liberal though, Neo cons are so dumb

it is extremely hard to oust an incumbent, especially kennedy and kerry. besides the fact they probably have way more money then the other candidates, they have name recognition.

i think a better question is, how did bush get elected twice…

Most people can’t get re-elected if they don’t represent their constituency well. The problem here is that you assume a politician’s constituency is “the people.” Rarely is this true. A typical Democrat’s constituency includes business interests, special interest lobbies, Unions, and others… A typical Republican’s constituency includes big business, Oil companies, Government contracters, etc… The people are all stupid masses to them both. Democrats try to pick up the minority vote and the poor vote come election time with big government programs to help them. Republican’s promise to vote against abortion and gay marriage in order to court all the religious people in the country. This is the way of things. They both suck.

Same could be asked of most Neo-Cons…

because new candidates cannot go against the amount of money those campaigns have. Another reason for term limits.

Mass should change their name from the Bay State to the Botox State.
I went to college in Mass. The Kennedy family could walk on water, as far as the voters are concerned. ( even in Mary Jo couldn’t) and you know, once a senator is in there 3 or 4 terms, you can’t get rid of ‘em. It’s the “vote the bums out, but don’t vote MY bum out. syndrome.
With politicians, if you don’t do anything you can’t do anything wrong.

‘Cuz they love ‘em in liberal Tax-achoosets.
I lived there in the ’80s.

I’ve been wondering that for quite some time now. Heck, I can even see how Massachusetts is elected Uncle Ted because of the murder of the two better political Kennedys, but Kerry? He doesn’t have an excuse.

Kerry offers voters ketchup and Ted offers them alcohol and a free ride home.
Works out for all of the looney libs.

How did Bush ever get elected in the first place? How did Delay keep getting re-elected? Duke Cunningham?

1) They are extremely far left.
2) They represent MA.
That’s all it takes.

Good question. Maybe its because all of the dead people in the State of MA are still voting democratic. I don’t understand this one at all either.

It’s all about the money and the name recognition. They are not just Senators… they are institutions.

Senator Kerry is a good man and a statesman. He is always reelected because the people of Massachusetts recognize his hard work and efforts on their behalf.
I still get comments from people telling me they voted for Kerry for president and still would today.

We have John Kerry and Ted Kennedy diehards here who keep voting for them.

Incumbents own their seats. The number of seats that switched this fall only had two that had more than 12 years in congress, the rest had less than 12.
Incumbents get free media coverage, local and national, that others do not get. They get to use your money to help fund their efforts, it is fact that many democrats regularly use staff and franking privileges for re-election. As incumbents they have a strong network of lobbyists who give their campaigns massive amounts of cash, that others do not get.
Until we have term limits this will continue, and until we by voting reduce the number of incumbents we will not get term limits. Congress has refused to respond to 34 states who have made 567 requests for a Constitution Convention, this is of course a violation of the Constitution but Congress is, if you ask them, above the law.
Do yourself a favor, vote against all incumbents with two terms or more, vote for the other party if needed. When we do this we are saying NO and that we want term limits. If the 72% of AMericans that hate congress did this we could get rid of them in eight years, and then we can demand, PUT IN A TERM LIMIT AMENDMENT TODAY!
thanks for the question
