What To Do When Over Counter Medicine Does Not Work For Tooth Ache?

Husband has a very bad tooth ache. Has been going on for a while now. We know it has probably turned to infection. Right now we do not have the money to take him to the dentist & he has taken everything from tylenol to asprin. Yet nothing has worked. Any ideas or suggestions that would help soothe the pain until I am able to take him?
